JINJA TOWN IS SITUATED on the eastern bank of the River Nile, at the point where the River flows out of Lake Victoria to start its 4,000 mile (6,400 Kilometer) journey to the Mediterranean Sea, through Northern Uganda, the Sudan and Egypt.

Lying just north of the Equator, but at an altitude of 3,750 feet above sea level, it enjoys a very pleasant climate with temperatures ranging from 63 to 82 degrees F. (17 degrees to 28 degrees C).

The municipality covers an area of 11.5 square miles (28 Square Kilometers).
